I received delivery of my new boat in December of 2024; a 2025 Maritimo M55 Black Edition.  My personal schedule limits my use of the boat to just half the year.  Specifically winter time,  mid-October through mid-May.  Based on the number of boats I see going into winter storage each year, I'm guessing there is a like-minded boat enthusiast in the northeast that is only interested in a boat during the warmer months, mid-May through mid-October.  If so, an incredible opportunity exists for the two of us to partner in a co-ownership boat arrangement with all the obvious advantages (shared costs) and virtually none of the downside (scheduling, sharing of personal goods, etc.) normally associated with co-ownership of a boat. I created this website, Halftime Yacht, to provide information about the ownership / partnership opportunity.

As a side note, I have an opportunity to participate in a similar six month ownership arrangement in a larger yacht and thus I'm open to selling this yacht outright - although that is not my preference.

I have a hard time justifying spending money unnecessarily. To spend $$$ on a boat and have it sit for six months, unused, bothers me and takes away from the pleasure of owning the boat.

However, a traditional boat share arrangement doesn't interest me either.  It is fraught with less than desirable aspects - scheduling, sharing personal items with others, unable to "move in" to the boat and a general overall "share" atmosphere that prevents me from feeling like the boat is my own.

There's a much better solution - an approximate six month period of ownership which allows each of the two Partners to make the boat their own.  There is no scheduling, use limitations, location limitations or any sense that you are sharing the boat with another.  This is because you are not sharing it, it is yours for six months each year.

When each Partner's 6-month use period is up, there will be a Boat Transition. During Boat Transition, (twice per year) the active Partner will remove all of their personal items from the boat.  The boat will then be inspected, serviced and detailed.  It will then be delivered to the receiving Partner's location of choice.  That Partner will then "move in" to the "like-new" boat with their personal items and make the boat their own for the next six months.  Six months later the process repeats itself for the other Partner.  Boat Transition will take place in May (boat comes to you) and October (boat comes to me).

2025 Maritimo M55 Black Edition.  The boat was built in Australia and was chosen for its quality build, seaworthiness, comfort level and its ability to provide speedy passage (25 knots) or long range cruising (1200 nm).  Maritimo yachts have an excellent reputation, loyal following and they hold their value very well.  The yacht is fully loaded and very comfortable - three staterooms, two heads, an enclosed flybridge, Seakeeper 9, Yacht Controller, swim platform, two 22" Garmin 9000 chartplotters, FLIR camera, Starlink, forward sonar, Miele appliances including washer and dryer.

During my six months of use, the boat will be used / moored on the southeast coast of the USA - Carolinas to South Florida / Bahamas.  Your area can be anywhere on the east coast - ideally North Carolina or Chesapeake area but as far north as New England works as well. Even the Great Lakes works.

During my six months of use, the boat will be used / moored on the southeast coast of the USA - Carolinas to South Florida / Bahamas.  For logistical reasons, the boat will need to be east coast based year round.

I have been for many years (both power and sail).  I grew up spending a lot of time on the water (sailing the Chesapeake) and after retiring a few years ago, I re-immersed myself in the boating lifestyle to keep me busy.  It is just my wife and I, no kids, no pets, lots of friends. Our boat use could be described as 75% at the dock as our home away from home that we visit a few times per month, and the other 25% of the time long distance cruising.  Our ideal cruising area has clear water, warm weather, good golf courses and cold beverages served beach side.  We are lucky enough to have a wonderful summer home at the NJ shore which occupies all of our time from May to October.

A successful partnership will require like-minded partners in the sense of values, experience and expectations.  I believe there is no better community to find someone like that than the boating community.  During my extensive cruising from Maine to Florida I have met some incredible people who I would have no problem entering a partnership with.  If you are a cruiser, you know what I mean.  The people you meet while cruising is one of the best parts of cruising. My goal is to find one of those same like-minded individuals who would benefit as much as I would from this partnership arrangement.

Each Partner will own 50% of an LLC that will own the boat.  This isn't the forum to discuss specific costs, but a boat like this generally cost in the ballpark of $3MM.  Additional costs that will be split between Partners are maintenance, service, insurance, boat delivery (2X per year), etc.  Each Partner will be responsible for their own fuel usage and dockage.  I'm proposing the length of our partnership agreement to be 2 - 3 years; after which we would sell the boat or with both partners in agreement we could extend the partnership agreement a few more years or one partner would buy out the other partner.  Details like this and many others will be discussed and decided upon by both partners prior to executing the partnership agreement.

If this partnership arrangement is something you might be interested in, perhaps we should talk.  Send me an email (see below) describing your situation, interest, boating experience, etc - whatever you believe would be helpful for me to determine if we would be a good fit and possibly worth a conversation.  Or, if you just have a question or comment, I'm open to hearing them as well.

Perhaps you know others in your boating community that might be interested in this incredible opportunity.  If so, I would appreciate it if you would pass this along.
